What is Turnpilot?
Turnpilot is AI-powered ground handling control software. It brings passengers, baggage, equipment and aircraft together in a single view for each flight, so you can see every turnaround in real time, act before the delay exists and prove what happened. Four optional AI modules support it, from supervision to proof. See the platform and Turnpilot's AI.
Who is Turnpilot for?
Primarily for ground handlers, who use it every day, but also for airports and airlines. Each trade has its own view: see our solutions.
Does Turnpilot replace our current systems?
How does Turnpilot fit with our tools?
Turnpilot reads information from your existing systems so that nothing has to be entered twice. How it connects is defined station by station, during the review of your operation, taking into account what is already in place.
Does Turnpilot work with our airport's A-CDM?
Yes. Turnpilot exchanges with A-CDM: the handler updates its TOBT from the actual progress of the turnaround, and the airport receives a better-informed time. See the airport solution.
How does Turnpilot help reduce attributed delay minutes?
In two ways. During the turnaround, alerts are ranked by impact on departure time, so the costliest minutes are handled first; as options, Supervision AI spots drift as early as possible and Management AI prioritises and assigns the actions. After departure, every coded minute has its chain of evidence, so minutes that are not down to ground handling can be disputed with facts. See SLAs and delays.
Does Turnpilot make decisions for our supervisors?
Not without your consent. By default, the system proposes an action and people decide: every alert explains why it appears, and the supervisor accepts or declines. With the optional Management AI, you can delegate the approval of certain actions within a scope you set; everything is explained and logged, and the supervisor takes back control whenever they want.
Does Turnpilot use artificial intelligence?
Yes, as options. Turnpilot offers four AI modules: Supervision AI, which watches over turnarounds and stations and alerts before the delay or the hazard; Management AI, which prioritises, assigns and approves the actions you delegate to it; Vision AI, which spots hazards on camera; and the AI assistant, which answers in plain language and drafts messages and reports. You switch on the ones that help, station by station.
Are Turnpilot's AI modules mandatory?
No. Every AI module is optional. Turnpilot works fully without them; you switch on the ones that help, station by station, and you can start with just one.
What does Supervision AI do?
It continuously follows every turnaround, stand and unit of equipment, and all your stations at once. It spots drift as soon as it appears and anticipates hazards before they happen, for example a vehicle heading towards an aircraft or a pushback about to start while a team is still working on the stand. The alert goes to the right person, with its reason.
What does Management AI do?
It organises the actions to take: it ranks them by their impact on departure time and on safety, suggests who does what, balances the workload across flights and teams, follows each task through and chases it when it stalls. Within the scope you delegate to it, it approves actions on its own; outside that scope, the supervisor approves.
Can AI trigger an action without us?
Only if you decide so. By default, no action goes out without human approval. You can delegate certain actions to Management AI, within a scope you define and can narrow at any time. Messages drafted by the AI assistant are reviewed before sending. Everything is logged.
Does Vision AI recognise people?
No. Vision AI detects hazardous situations around the aircraft (a vehicle too close to an engine, someone in a danger zone during pushback, debris on the stand), not who people are. It does no facial recognition and is not used to monitor staff.
Do we need cameras to use Vision AI?
Yes: Vision AI analyses images from the station's cameras. The other AI modules (supervision, management, assistant) work without cameras, from flight data. See cameras and evidence.
How do we check an answer from the AI assistant?
Every answer points to the facts it comes from: the flight, the step, the time stamp or the document. The supervisor checks at a glance. In a dispute, the reference remains the flight's recorded timeline, not the drafted text.
Can the AI make mistakes?
Like any system, yes. That is why every AI alert, answer or action states its reason and sources, delegated actions stay within the scope you set, and the supervisor can take back control at any moment. Everything is logged and can be reviewed afterwards.
Which languages does the AI assistant work in?
English and French. It drafts airline messages in the recipient's language.
What does a ramp agent see?
One task at a time, in large type, readable with gloves on, even without a network. Agents see their next task, not a dashboard. Tasks arrive approved by the supervisor or, within the scope you delegate to it, by Management AI. See the ramp app.
Will our crews actually use it?
Adoption is central to the design: no input the system can infer, single-action steps, IGOM terminology and pictograms for multilingual crews. Deployment includes informing crews and hands-on onboarding on the ramp.
Is Turnpilot used to monitor agents?
No. Turnpilot is a tool for running operations, not for monitoring people. There is no identification of individuals in images: Vision AI detects hazardous situations, not who people are. Crews are informed before go-live, and dialogue with their representatives is part of deployment.
Who owns the data and the images?
The customer. Time-stamped images belong to the operator, and the data from your operations remains your property, including what the AI modules produce from it: alerts, detections, messages and reports. See security and data.
Can an airline see other airlines' flights?
No. Data is kept separate between airlines: each airline sees only its own flights, with the related evidence. See the airline portal.
Is Turnpilot designed for the GDPR?
Yes, by design, AI included: data minimisation, defined purposes, limited retention, role-based access, and no facial recognition by Vision AI. As a general rule, the customer is the data controller and Turnpilot acts as processor; the exact allocation is set out in the contract.
Where is the data hosted?
Hosting and security arrangements are set out in the contract and in the documentation provided to each customer. We are happy to answer specific questions from your IT team and your data protection officer.
How long does it take to deploy Turnpilot at a station?
Deploying a station is a matter of weeks. The timing depends on your operation and what is already in place; we specify it during the review of your station. You can start with one station and then extend.
What gains can we expect?
Fewer attributed minutes, fewer bags left behind, more reliable TOBTs, less time searching for equipment and evidence for disputes. We do not publish blanket figures: the effects are measured before and after, using your own data. See the benefits.
Can we compare several stations?
Yes. With the same indicators at every station, group management can compare stations on a common basis and identify the delay causes specific to each. As an option, Supervision AI watches every station at once and flags the one falling behind.
Can we see a demo?
Yes. We present Turnpilot and its AI modules through concrete cases, then look with you at what they would change at your station. Write to us from the contact page.
How much does Turnpilot cost?
Turnpilot is priced on quotation, according to your operation and needs. The AI modules are options: the quotation depends on the ones you switch on. Get in touch from the contact page to discuss it.
